I was watching The Tudors Season Two with Brandon over the weekend and got completely into the whole bell-sleeves with feathers and beading and oversized jewelry. I was even inspired today to drag out a shirt from my closet that I never wear due to its inherent unwearability: it’s a jewel-tone, satiny fabric with huge bell sleeves and is generally just difficult to wear. I toned down the sleeves with a cardigan, and voila!
If you’ve never seen The Tudors, then you should NetFlix a couple episodes, if only for the gorgeous fashion. It’s not quite Marie Antoinette, but it’s still inspiring. Even the menswear is on-trend with all the above-the-knee riding boots running around on-screen.
Check out Natalie Dormer, below, who plays the ill-fated Anne Boleyn on the series.
I went on a massive search for Tudors-inspired clothing and accessories that are also surprisingly easy to incorporate into the modern wardrobe.

He told German TV channel Tele 5: “It is embarrassing every time. You have to pretend that you’re passionately making love and forget the whole world. But of course you’re on set with about 20 people, a camera and a make-up woman conceals the pimples on your butt.”
I must be five years old today, because I am laughing so fucking hard.

Don’t worry Henry Charles, I’m sure there’s a line of individuals who are well aware of that.
I was watching The Tudors the other day and got to wondering if Jonathan Rhys Meyers was ever a B.V.? He seems like he definitely would have been one. —Jen Dear Hello: You nuts? He’s a friggin’ regular—outta control!Hot damn. I wonder what messed-up vice he is?
I’ll never not see him as a glamour rock star. I blame Velvet Goldmine. <3
Well, he’s been having problems with alcoholism; so I hope it isn’t anything like that. :(
(Hey! Maybe he’s the bisexual “Nevis Divine”?)

So, I just watched this for the first time the other day, and I adored it. I knew I would. I love Tudor history, even when it’s butchered and hacked rather badly, but this one’s rather interesting. Anne Boleyn is scheming and conniving, sure; but unlike The Other Boleyn Girl or even The Tudors, she’s not gold-digging. She sets out to ruin him because he wouldn’t let her marry Henry Percy; and so she’s witty and sarcastic, and aims for the jugular in all their conversations, and it’s just wonderful. The acting is brilliant (of course it is; we’ve got Burton and Bujold, after all), and they have a marvelous on-screen chemistry. The movie/mini-series is long as fuck, but it’s well worth the time; especially if any of you like The Tudors or The Other Boleyn Girl. (And may I add that Bujold is incredibly beautiful, and Burton has this strange, sexy appeal, even when he’s a douchebag? It’s true.)
Picspam coming up. I love how this movie looks. It really has that “dated feel” (but in the best way possible. Yay, 60’s. ♥)
